Major Summer Clear-Out Incoming Manchester United are reportedly planning to offload more than ten players permanently this summer, with names like Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Tom Heaton all on the potential exit list as the club looks to raise funds for new additions—particularly a top-class striker. If Ruben Amorim gets rid of all the flop players, he might go down as the most beloved manager in United’s history.

Manchester United Set for Major Goalkeeping Shake-Up as Bayindir’s Exit Looms

Manchester United’s 2024-25 season has been turbulent, with the club currently sitting 13th in the Premier League. As pressure mounts, manager Ruben Amorim is spearheading a comprehensive squad rebuild, and one key area under review is the goalkeeping department.

Altay Bayindir, who joined United from Fenerbahce in 2023 for £4.3 million, has seen minimal action in his two seasons at Old Trafford, limited mainly to cup fixtures. The Turkish shot-stopper, now 26, is reportedly keen on securing a starting role elsewhere to boost his chances of representing Turkey in the 2026 World Cup.

With doubts surrounding both Bayindir’s future and André Onana’s form—highlighted by costly mistakes against Ipswich and Arsenal—United are actively scouting replacements. Sources including Manchester Evening News, Caught Offside, and Give Me Sport report that United are in advanced talks with Burnley over a potential move for James Trafford.

Trafford, a 22-year-old standout who joined Burnley from Manchester City in 2023, has had a stellar Championship campaign. He set a 1,000-minute clean sheet record and earned a senior England call-up in March 2025. However, Burnley—who are chasing promotion—are reportedly holding out for £30 million.

United are also monitoring Royal Antwerp’s 22-year-old Senne Lammens, who’s been impressive in the Belgian Pro League. Lammens is reportedly open to a Premier League move, with a €10 million valuation attached to his name.

Meanwhile, Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, just 18 years old, has caught the attention of United’s scouts. Though not a keeper, Dibling is seen as a versatile attacking option, especially after the club failed to land Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP, who opted for Chelsea instead.

Adding to the anticipated departures, veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton is expected to hang up his gloves when his contract expires in June 2025, leaving United potentially in need of two new shot-stoppers. Other options being considered include Lille’s Lucas Chevalier and Blackburn’s Aynsley Pears.

Amidst fan debates online, opinions vary. Some supporters argue that Onana should be sold and Bayindir retained, while others push for fresh competition in goal. The upcoming summer transfer window is shaping up to be critical, with Amorim aiming to strengthen the team’s spine and restore the club’s stature.

Whether Trafford, Lammens, or another candidate ends up between the sticks, the goalkeeping saga reflects a broader overhaul at United. The coming months will determine whether Bayindir departs and whether Amorim can secure the dependable presence in goal his project demands.
