Liverpool have been told to sign Premier League star as Mohamed Salah’s replacement. He would be perfect for Liverpool! 👏
Tony Cascarino, a TalkSPORT pundit, has suggested that Liverpool should consider Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. This follows Liverpool’s unexpected 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, which marked their first loss under new manager Arne Slot. Despite Salah’s contributions, he couldn’t prevent the outcome.
While Liverpool managed to keep hold of Salah during the recent transfer window, uncertainty still looms over his future, as well as that of key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, all of whom have contracts expiring after the 2024-2025 season.
Salah continues to attract interest from the Saudi Pro League, and speculation around his potential departure remains a hot topic. Although there are talks about extending his contract, Liverpool understands that a time will come when they’ll need to prepare for life without him.
Reports indicate that Liverpool is likely to initiate discussions with Salah to secure his services beyond next summer, but they are also exploring possible replacements, with Mbeumo being a noteworthy candidate. Cascarino singled out Mbeumo during a talkSPORT segment, praising his reliability, goal-scoring ability, and tenacity on the field. He stated, “If Mo Salah left, Mbeumo would be the one I’d target.”
The 25-year-old Cameroon international, who joined Brentford from Troyes in 2019, has established himself as a consistent performer in the Premier League. With 53 goals and 42 assists in 204 matches, Mbeumo has become a key figure in Brentford’s success. Currently valued at around £35 million and under contract until 2026, Mbeumo may soon have to make a decision about his future.
Larger clubs have started to take notice of his talents, and his combination of versatility, work rate, and scoring prowess could see him thrive at a higher level. Should Salah depart, Mbeumo’s attributes could make him a suitable replacement for Liverpool. Given his form and affordable price tag, he represents a promising option as the club plans for the future.
