I’m willing to give up a portion of my salary to support this fantastic club’: 60 million pounds The Belgian international has agreed to take a £20 million pay cut to join Arsenal. An agreement has been reached by JANUARY, as Arteta wants it completed as soon as the transfer window opens. Kelvin De Bruyne’s childhood friend is the footballer.
Manchester City are willing to pay €20 million in January to sign Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, who Pep admires. According to Fichajes, Man City may have avoided their rivals in the pursuit of Arthur Vermeeren. The Belgian midfielder is still wanted by a number of top clubs, with Barcelona considered the favourite, but Arsenal are willing to pay €20 million to sign him in January.
After some outstanding performances for Royal Antwerp last season, Arthur Vermeeren emerged as Belgium’s next big star. He was instrumental in the Jupiler Pro League team winning the league title, despite his young age. He has kept his place in the team this season and has already tasted Champions League football, which has put him on the map. Several big clubs are interested in the 18-year-old Belgian midfielder, with Arsenal reportedly competing with many others.
City have long admired the Belgian midfielder and are willing to pay €20 million for him in January. Antwerp are looking for that price ahead of a possible sale, with Mikel Arteta eager to work with the 18-year-old. Arteta wants to continue developing his midfield with young players. Declan Rice’s arrival in the summer secured one position for many years to come, but there are others waiting in queue, such as Charlie Patino.
While some may argue that Vermeeren’s possible arrival will disrupt Patino’s path, the two can play together in the future. Arsenal could have a solid youngster in their ranks with the Belgian midfielder, who has already had top-level experience in Belgium and the Champions League. Barcelona recently held talks with Vermeeren and appeared to be the favourites to sign him at one point.
The financial aspects of the transaction make it difficult for the Catalans to pay the required fee because they will have other priorities over the Belgian. Hence, Arsenal are ready to take their shot at signing Vermeeren ahead of the January widow. Arteta may look to add to his squad in that window, and the potential exit of Jorginho could open up space for another midfielder in the team.
While Arteta would like to keep Jorginho at least until the summer, he’s not opposed to adding Vermeeren to his young squad. The midfielder can forge a solid career in north London and become their future torch bearer in the middle of the park. The player has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United as well. Liverpool need to add central midfield reinforcements and the 18-year-old Belgian could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition. As far as Manchester United are concerned, they need to bring in someone who can control the tempo of the game and dominate proceedings in the middle of the park.
