Manchester City has put a Price Tag on Flop Player who disparately want to leave Ethihad in January transfer
Manchester City is said to have put a £50 million price tag on Kalvin Phillips before the January transfer window, even though he is only a bit-part player in the team.
They would make money off of the player, who they bought from Leeds United for £42 million in 2022. In his 15 months at the club, the center has only made five starts, and he could lose his spot with England before Euro 2024.
This month, Pep Guardiola wouldn’t say for sure that Phillips wouldn’t leave in January. He has only started one of his six Premier League games this season and has played just over 70 minutes.
The Mirror says that City still wants to get money back for their player. According to the story, Newcastle have eyed the 27-year-old as a possible January target after Sandro Tonali was banned for 10 months for breaking betting rules.
Some other teams that are interested are Liverpool, Juventus, Aston Villa, and West Ham. After the summer, Phillips was linked with a move to West Ham. However, he told the club that he wanted to stay and fight for his spot.
He started the League Cup loss to Newcastle last month because Rodri was suspended for three games in his own country, but he was taken off for the games against Wolves and Arsenal. Since the last international break, he has only made a few short cameos.
At the same time, City is thought to be competing with Newcastle for Exequiel Palacios, a defender for Bayer Leverkusen. The 25-year-old has been a big part of the team’s perfect start to the season, which has put them in first place in the Bundelsliga.
Palacios, who is from Argentina, is an important player for Xabi Alonso and has played 10 of his 12 games this season. He would not be cheap, though. He signed a new deal with Leverkusen in September that keeps him with the German team until 2028.
According to TNT Sports Argentina, City is keeping a close eye on the defensive midfielder. However, Newcastle could make a quick move to sign him because they want to fill the spot Tonali left open.
