Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly considering offloading Darwin Nunez and replacing him with a high-profile superstar this summer. Slot has targeted Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen as Nunez’s potential replacement, a player with a release clause of £113 million, according to Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Nunez, who joined Liverpool for €75 million with an additional €25 million in potential add-ons from Benfica, has underperformed recently, scoring only twice in the Premier League since March. This has hindered Liverpool’s efforts to achieve a Quadruple.
Despite being one of outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp’s favored players, Nunez’s future at Anfield is uncertain. With interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain, and with Kylian Mbappe likely moving to Real Madrid, Osimhen’s potential move to Liverpool is plausible.
