Fabrizio Romano reveals that Pep Guardiola is Set to sign Chelsea FLOP Midfielder who haven’t Scored nor asssited in 52 Appearance

EXCLUSIVE: “It is true,” says Romano, revealing the unexpected interest Man City had in the hapless Chelsea defender.

A year ago at this time, Chelsea had just completed the signing of Marc Cucurella and were chuffed to have outbid Manchester City for his services.

After a year, we’re still trying to get rid of him and came close to getting him on loan on the deadline day, but we’re still unsure of what to do with the left back.

However, it appears that there was already a movement to move him on in January. In his exclusive column for Caughtoffside, Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City came back in January with a loan offer, six months after missing out on him in the summer.

“It is true, though, that Manchester City approached Chelsea with a loan bid for Marc Cucurella at the start of January. Additionally, a non-binding buy option clause was incorporated. Cucurella and Man City had nothing further to do after Chelsea’s rejection since they wanted to keep him at the club.

Since Cucurella signed for such a large sum of money and was paid such large wages, it will be difficult to get rid of him permanently. Like so many other of our unsuccessful big-money signings, it now seems like taking out a number of loans before discreetly leaving the club’s back door is the most likely course of action.
