Buck, who is only 18 years old but has dual citizenship, has already caught the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate after being granted the opportunity to play for the England under-19 team. Of course, he was still eligible to represent the USA.
The young midfielder appears to already be under pressure given that USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter described him as a “really strong” player.
“He’s been wonderful. He has shown great strength. He and I have spoken. England has shown interest, which I think is fantastic. When a nation like England is watching you, that is a great accomplishment, Berhalter remarked.
I’ve spoken with him and informed him that, based on his current play, we believe he has a chance to contend for a spot on the World Cup team in 2026. We can see that he can be competitive and fight for a spot on the roster if he keeps growing at that rate.
