His mistakes these days are hurting us and it’s becoming unbearable’:
Arteta VOW drops his £50m star against Sevilla in UCL as Arsenal lose all 3 points against Chelsea.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Jack Grealish is aware of the competition for his place in the team this season.
Speaking at the final press conference before Man City’s upcoming match against Young Boys (via Manchester Evening News), he revealed this.
It’s clear that Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish are both aware that Jeremy Doku is the biggest threat to a place in the starting XI going forward.
Pep Guardiola sends Jeremy Doku ‘competitive’ message to Jack Grealish
Described as ‘phenomenal’ by Stephen Clemence, the England international could lose his place in the team due to the winger’s strong start in the sky blue colors of Belgium.
The 21-year-old is a natural winger, capable of handling his own man and creating chances for his teammates, as was the case against Brighton.
Now, Pep Guardiola also claims that Jack Grealish is fully aware that Jeremy Doku is lurking in the shadows to take his place in the team.
“There is no doubt about Jack’s quality and what he has done for us. Coming a bit late this season. He needs his rhythm, I can’t get there after two or three training sessions like [Phil] Foden, Bernardo [Silva]. He will be back and we will use him. He will help us. He knows there is competition.
Jeremy Doku poses a threat to Jack Grealish
Pep Guardiola and Jack Grealish are not naive enough to believe that Jeremy Doku would not be ready to take up the left-wing position in Manchester City’s XI.
Grealish’s concern is that while it’s fair to say he’s not a winger, Doku is a winger.
Unlike most new players who struggle to meet Guardiola’s demands in their first season, Doku has taken to life at City like a duck to water.
Therefore, the former Rennes superstar wants to firmly consolidate his position in the team, leaving Jack Grealish on the bench for most of next season.
