Man City receives a transfer ‘boost’ from Bayern due to contract talks with Alphonso Davies.
According to sources, Bayern Munich sensation Alphonso Davies has put Manchester City on “red alert” as the treble champions continue to consider a move for him next summer.
Davies’ future with the Bundesliga giants is still up in the air, as the Canadian defender has yet to commit to a new contract. Bayern is expecting that the 23-year-old will finally agree to better terms, but negotiations are alleged to have stopped behind the scenes.
Davies, who joined the German giants in January 2019, is regarded as one of the top left-backs in the world, having played 174 appearances for the club. At the Allianz Arena, determining his future is a top priority.
However, according to Team Talk and other sources, he may be put available for transfer if he does not sign a contract extension. City are reported to be competing for Davies alongside other major European clubs, particularly Real Madrid, who are expected to be their main rivals.
The article makes no mention of any potential fees. Davies has 44 caps for Canada, scoring 15 goals.
According to The Daily Mail, City are among the Premier League clubs keeping an eye on highly-rated Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, who is making a name for himself at the Championship club. The 21-year-old has played for England U21s.
Scouts from both Manchester teams, as well as Liverpool and Tottenham, are believed to have been sent to observe Hackney play for Michael Carrick’s team this season. Any potential transfer involving the Middlesbrough starlet, however, is said to be considerably more likely next summer rather than January.
Hackney rose through the Middlesbrough Academy system. He’s made 20 appearances for them this season, with one goal and one assist to show for it.
