Chelsea news, information, and commentary
Chalobah was coveted by Tuchel’s Bayern at the beginning of the season; the Bundesliga winners expressed interest in a £25 million trade, but it was never finalised.
Negotiations between Chelsea and Bayern on a January transfer had been ongoing. However, when Chalobah’s hamstring injury put a stop to those talks, Bayern decided to resume after discovering that the player would be fully fit by the end of the month.
But following the most recent round of negotiations, Bayern has reportedly decided to withdraw from the battle for Chalobah.
However, it is thought that Chelsea is still willing to loan Chalobah to a team outside of the Premier League, and that is a possibility for numerous teams overseas.
Under Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino, Chalobah has not appeared in any games and was declared surplus to requirements in the summer.
After passing through the Chelsea youth, he has made 63 senior appearances for the team to date.
Chalobah has also spent time on loan at French team Lorient, as well as at Championship teams Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town.
The Premier League teams Tottenham and Nottingham Forest have already expressed interest in the 24-year-old.
