Pep Guardiola has announced VERY SAD NEWS for Kelvin De Bruyne before Newscastle Clash Tomorrow
Before Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Newcastle United, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has dropped a significant hint on Kevin De Bruyne’s team news.
This weekend, the Sky Blues take on Eddie Howe’s faltering Newcastle team at St. James’ Park in their first Premier League game of 2024.
The Magpies have lost all eight of their previous Premier League games against Manchester City and have only triumphed once in their last five games overall, dropping them to ninth place in the standings.
Last Saturday, both teams won the Emirates FA Cup: Newcastle defeated Sunderland, their local rivals, in the Stadium of Light, while City triumphed over Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium.
Last weekend, Kevin De Bruyne made just his third appearance for Manchester City this season. It was his first time playing for the team in five months following surgery for a reoccurring hamstring issue.
The 32-year-old and fellow international from Belgium, Jeremy Doku, played a part in the second half of Sunday’s 5-0 thumping, and they are both expected to play at St James’ Park.
Given that the midfielder hasn’t started since the season’s first weekend against Burnley, De Bruyne had hinted that he would probably start the next games for the Blues from the bench.
Since December, the Belgian has been working with the first squad of Manchester City, and coach Pep Guardiola believes he might start on Saturday night against Newcastle.
Guardiola remarked, “I can see Kevin De Bruyne is very good. He’s ready to start, and the trip to Abu Dhabi will do him good too.”
He seemed energetic and in good health when I met him yesterday. He performed admirably, surpassing the Huddersfield practise sessions. He is improving.
If Manchester City wins on Tyneside, they might pass league leaders Liverpool by two points. However, Erling Haaland and John Stones won’t be available for the match.
