Despite agency problems, Man City is still eager to get a 20-goal player on a free transfer.
Despite AC Milan’s agent problems, Manchester City is still eager to sign Matija Popovic on a free transfer.
That’s what BILD’s Head of Football, Christian Falk, says.
What’s new with Matija Popovic and Manchester City, then? Let’s examine this.
Matija Popovic is still desired by Manchester City.
As AC Milan got closer to landing the Serbian wonderkid, Txiki Begiristain seemed to have lost out.
However, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato claims that AC Milan was dissatisfied with Popovic’s representatives’ actions as an agreement drew closer, which caused the deal to fall through.
“Breaking – The negotiation between Milan and Popovic’s agents is not unblocked,” the trustworthy journalist reported. Regarding the entourage’s requests, the club is incredibly ambivalent. Although Matija wishes to wear the Rossoneri, it is insufficient.
ADVANCED CITY STORIES
Falk claims that while Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Napoli have joined the debate, AC Milan is no longer on the table.
Likened to Michu, Popovic is considered one of Europe’s most exciting talents. In the 2022–2023 season, he scored 20 goals in 24 games in the Kadetska Liga before turning down a new contract offer from Partizan.
Manchester City still has time.
Importantly, Popovic’s transfer to Manchester City does not need to be finalised before the transfer deadline.
After his Partizan contract expired, the 18-year-old became a free agent, allowing him to sign with any club outside of the transfer window.

Naturally, as Napoli and Bayern Munich want to defeat Manchester City to the Serbia U17 international’s signature, time is somewhat of the essence.
If the Italian powerhouses are able to resolve their differences with the teenagers’ representatives in the end, there is also a chance that AC Milan will be allowed to reenter the picture.
But if Manchester City and Popovic can come to a verbal agreement, Begiristain will have no time constraints when it comes to completing the minor issues.
