I did all in my power to persuade him to sign with Manchester City, but in the end, he decided to sign with Liverpool. As the saying goes, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.” Rodri, a star for Man City, has stated that his £40 million Spanish teammate has committed to joining Liverpool FC in January rather than Manchester City.

According to reports, Arsenal is sending scouts to Girona to evaluate Miguel Gutierrez, a 22-year-old prodigy who debuted for Real Madrid in 2021, at left defence. Ever since, the Gunners have continued to be interested in him. Girona has a 2027 deal with Gutierrez, therefore Arsenal has sent scouts to watch him in recent weeks.

Gutierrez, who was born in 2001, graduated from Real Madrid’s youth system and signed a four million euro contract with Girona in 2022. Real Madrid may decide not to pursue Gutierrez despite having a 50% sell-on clause because of possible losses with other defenders. Girona could like to keep him through the summer, but they might decide otherwise if a large bid comes in January.

Arsenal began looking for a left-back replacement in the summer when Carney moved on loan to Real Sociedad. The only confirmed left-back at the moment is Oleksandr Zinchenko, after Nuno Tavares moved on loan to Nottingham Forest. Even though Tavares and Olympique de Marseille are winning the French league, the team’s defensive options have changed.

Because of his outstanding performances, Gutierrez has drawn the attention of scouts, which has helped Girona’s surprise ascent to the top of La Liga. With 12 games across all competitions and 1 assist, he demonstrated his ability to play both defence and offence. After 46 appearances for Girona, Gutierrez is highly valued by Arsenal due to his great play.

As one of the best reverse full-backs in Europe, Gutierrez fits Mikel Arteta’s tactical scheme because he can switch between attack and defence with ease. He is an invaluable asset to Arsenal because of his versatility. A possible transfer to Arsenal may depend on Girona’s willingness to let him go in January as scouts keep a close eye on his development.
