: “He is better than the highly rated Erling Haaland and Can play in all wings-Sky pundit lauds 24-year-old Man City star after stunning display v Brentford
With tonight’s victory over Brentford, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team has reduced the lead at the top of the Premier League standings to just two points.
In 2024, City maintained their excellent play, winning five games in a row across all competitions.
Phil Foden stole the show this evening at the Gtech Community Stadium with a hat-trick.
Neal Maupay’s goal gave the Bees the advantage in the game after some shoddy City defence. The striker was discovered by Mark Flekken’s goal kick, and he quickly grabbed the ball and put it past Ederson.
However, Foden levelled for City shortly before halftime before stepping up his game in the second half.
As Phil Foden scores a hat-trick for Manchester City against Brentford, Alan Smith gushes about the player.

ADVANCED CITY STORIES
Following his equaliser, Foden scored again early in the second half, this time with a quick header from a flawless cross by Kevin De Bruyne.
Following a neat little lay-off from Erling Haaland, Foden scored his third goal, finishing clinically into the bottom corner at the age of 24.
Playing in a centre position, Foden once again impressed this season, totaling 14 goals in all competitions.
Commentator Alan Smith of Sky selected him Man of the Match, saying of the player: “A lot of City players have been excellent, but when you score a hat-trick, you really have to get the award.” Phil Foden is having a fantastic season with a fantastic team.
Foden shines once more.
Once more, Foden—whom Pep Guardiola recently stated had evolved into more of a match-winner for City—was Manchester City’s standout performer.
Even with Kevin De Bruyne and Julen Alvarez occupying comparable positions, the midfielder was still a standout performer in the middle, working between the lines.
He is finally developing into the serious player that many anticipated he would be.
It’s great to see Foden gaining more offensive power as well; he only needs one more goal this year to tie his career high and two more to equal his 16 goals from the 2020–21 campaign.
