“The league is dangerously prepared for Arsenal, if not, this guy should have been sent off for his foul on our player”- Brentford Boss Thomas Frank expresses his disappointment as he believes £60M Arsenal star should have been shown a straight Red card after a challenge from Nathan Collins
Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, has voiced his opinion that Kai Havertz should have been given a red card before he scored the crucial goal in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Brentford. Frank’s team seemed ready to secure a significant point against the title challengers, as Yoane Wissa leveled the score just before halftime after Declan Rice’s early goal.
However, reminiscent of their previous clash in November, Havertz once again proved to be a problem for Brentford, scoring a late winner and denying them any points. Frank argued that Havertz was lucky to avoid being sent off after what he perceived as a dive in the penalty area under a challenge from Nathan Collins.
Despite already being booked, Havertz fell under minimal contact from the Brentford defender, leading to appeals from Brentford players for a second yellow card. Referee Rob Jones chose not to punish Havertz, a decision Frank criticized as a “clear dive.”
Speaking in a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Frank expressed his frustration, saying, “I usually wouldn’t say this, but I believe Havertz shouldn’t have been on the pitch when he scored the goal.” He elaborated, pointing to replay evidence supporting his claim of simulation by Havertz and suggesting that the linesman should have intervened.
Additionally, Frank provided an update on the condition of captain Christian Norgaard, who was forced off due to injury in the first half of the match at the Emirates Stadium.
