Liverpool wants to sign β¬90m Ligue 1 superstar as Van Dijk’s long-term replacement π¨ He would be the perfect replacement when Virgil’s time comes as he is playing to leave π±
Liverpool are reportedly vying to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro, who is being eyed as a possible successor to Virgil Van Dijk.
As reported by Le Parisien, Liverpool are now contenders in the race to secure the highly-regarded young defender Yoro during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 18-year-old Frenchman has also drawn interest from major clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Yoro, often compared to Raphael Varane, is considered one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.
Liverpool see Yoro as a long-term replacement for Van Dijk, who faces an uncertain future with the club as his contract expires next year. Should Van Dijk not renew his contract soon, he will be able to negotiate with other clubs starting next year.
The departure of Jurgen Klopp has created uncertainty about the future of several Liverpool players. Besides Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are also approaching the final year of their contracts.
Liverpool are in need of a new defender this summer. Yoro, who played 44 matches for Lille last season and helped them finish fourth in Ligue 1, qualifying for the Champions League, is known for his technical prowess and maturity despite his young age.
Securing Yoro will be a challenge for Liverpool given the interest from Real Madrid and PSG.
