Liverpool propose shock swap deal to sign £85million star
According to reports, Liverpool is preparing a surprise trade with Real Madrid to obtain Brazilian international Rodrygo.
The Spanish publication Nacional claims that Liverpool is trying to capitalize on Rodrygo’s unpredictability. The purchase of Kylian Mbappe by Real Madrid and the addition of young player Endrick may result in less playing time for Rodrygo. In light of this situation, Liverpool is keen to recruit the South American talent, but a major obstacle is his high market worth.
Real Madrid is reportedly worth about €100 million (£85 million) for Rodrygo, according to the Catalan media outlet. Liverpool is putting up a trade proposal that would see Rodrygo move to Anfield in return for Trent Alexander-Arnold going to the Bernabeu in order to offset this significant expense. Alexander-Arnold, who was named Liverpool’s second captain last season, has not yet agreed to a new deal. Liverpool wants to sell him now in order to raise the money necessary to sign Rodrygo and reduce the possibility that he would go on a free transfer the following year.
Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is considering Alexander-Arnold as a possible right-back to take Dani Carvajal’s spot, who is getting older. In the meanwhile, Rodrygo would be a strong contender to take over for Mohamed Salah as the long-term replacement for Liverpool manager Arne Slot. But Slot also has to worry about holding onto important players, and Alexander-Arnold is unquestionably one of the squad’s most vital players.
