Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and are preparing to submit a formal offer for the young defender this summer. Branthwaite has become United’s top defensive target, particularly as Everton’s financial struggles may compel them to sell.

Everton is said to value Branthwaite at Ā£70 million (ā‚¬83 million), and United will begin negotiating this fee after agreeing on a weekly salary of approximately Ā£150,000 to Ā£160,000 for the 21-year-old, according to The Times.

United’s transfer efforts have intensified following the decision to retain Erik ten Hag as manager next season, based on a recent review. The club has been notably impressed with Branthwaite, who, standing at 6 feet 5 inches, played a crucial role in Everton’s defense, which was among the best in terms of goals conceded last season. However, the transfer is expected to be complicated and may take much of the summer to finalize, as reported by FOOTBALLWAVE.

Beyond Branthwaite, United aim to strengthen their defense with another center-back, following Raphael Varaneā€™s exit on a free transfer and uncertainty around Harry Maguireā€™s future. Jonny Evans is also out of contract. Both United and Liverpool have expressed interest in Lilleā€™s Leny Yoro, though Real Madrid appears to be leading the race for the 18-year-old.

Additionally, United are considering Jean-Clair Todibo and Matthijs de Ligt as right-footed center-back options, while Branthwaite is viewed as the ideal choice to challenge Lisandro Martinez for the left-center back spot.
