In an exclusive update via CaughtOffside’s Daily Briefing column, Romano responded to recent claims suggesting Nunez could join Atletico Madrid. He also debunked rumors linking Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes as a potential replacement for the Uruguayan at Liverpool.
Nunez has faced criticism during his time at the club, with some fans growing frustrated by his inconsistent form and lack of impact. As a result, he has seen less game time since Arne Slot took over as manager.
However, Nunez remains focused on Liverpool, making a move to Atletico unlikely, especially as the Spanish club recently spent heavily on Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.
Romano downplayed the transfer rumors, stating, “It’s hard to even comment on the Rodrygo and Darwin Nunez speculation. Nunez to Atletico, Rodrygo to Liverpool… there’s nothing happening. Nunez is committed to Liverpool, and Atletico just spent €75m plus add-ons on Julian Alvarez. Rodrygo also renewed his contract with Real Madrid recently and is focused on the team.”
