I can’t continue to keep quiet about this.I knew I wanted to leave Manchester United after just 20 minutes under Erik ten Hag. I immediately knew he didn’t have any vision for the team. I regret joining Manchester United because I’m being labeled a flop but they don’t know if it’s because of the bad manager” β This is according to one of Manchester United latest signings as he blows hot about the situation of the club claiming that the manager of the club is to be blamed for the current failure of the team to produce results despite the amount of quality in the team. This is unbelievable π³π Our club has turned to a talent killer π³π Erik Ten Hag has really done a lot of damage to our clubπ³π Get him out now before it’s too late ππ #TenHagmustgo
Phil Jones, a former Manchester United player, chose to leave the club shortly after his first training session under Erik ten Hag.
Jones, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford, realized within 20 minutes of training that he could no longer handle the physical demands of professional football.
After missing Ten Hagβs debut season due to a knee injury, Jones worked hard to regain his fitness for the 2022/23 campaign. However, it soon became clear that his time at the club was over.
During an appearance on the *High Performance* podcast, Jones shared his experience from that pivotal training session. He said, “I was excited to return on the first day under Erik ten Hag, hoping for a fresh start. But as soon as I got on the pitch, I felt my knee. We were doing simple drills, just warming up, but I couldnβt even pass the ball with my right foot. It was embarrassing, and I knew I wouldnβt last.”
Jones continued, “I finished the session using my left foot, which I had adapted to over time, but when I tried to sprint, my knee gave out. I told the physio, βThis is my last session.β And it was.”
Since then, Jones has not returned to the field. Earlier this year, he announced plans to move into coaching and has also appeared as a pundit on *Match of the Day.*
