Manchester United’s £89 million bid for Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres has reportedly been accepted. Gyökeres, currently at Sporting Lisbon, has been in sensational form, netting an impressive 34 goals in just 17 appearances.

 

The striker’s potential move to Old Trafford is closely tied to United manager Ruben Amorim, who joined the club from Sporting Lisbon in November. Amorim had assured Sporting that he would not sign any of their players during the January transfer window as a gesture of goodwill to ease his departure. This promise suggests that any move for Gyökeres may be delayed until the summer.

 

Sporting’s young defender Gonçalo Inácio is also rumored to be on Amorim’s radar, but January signings appear unlikely due to United’s modest transfer budget. Amorim has acknowledged that new arrivals will depend on player sales.
