Reports say that Barcelona is thinking about making a move for Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium so far, the 23-year-old World Cup winner has mostly had to play second fiddle to Norway star Erling Haaland. But because other players have been hurt, Alvarez has only played in 13 games this season, scoring six goals and setting up five others.
The Argentine player joined City from River Plate in the middle of the 2021–2022 season. At that point, he only cost the treble winners £14 million, and his contract doesn’t end until 2028.
Camp Nou is still interested in the 26-cap forward, though. Spanish news outlet Sport says that Barcelona wants to sign Alvarez as one of their top targets as they look for long-term replacements for Robert Lewandowski.
The article from Sport says that both Barcelona manager Xavi and sporting director Deco like the City player and will keep an eye on his situation. It is said that Alvarez has a £43.4 million release clause.
Also, Calciomercato says that AC Milan, one of the biggest teams in Italy, is ready to make an offer for Sergio Gomez. Since moving to the Etihad Stadium, the left back hasn’t been very important.
Milan might want to sign the 23-year-old because of his age, potential, and ability to play a lot of different positions. It has been said that the fee would be between €18 million and €20 million.
Since moving to City last summer, Gomez has only started two Premier League games. Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol are both ahead of him in the competition for a left back spot. He moved to City from Anderlecht in Belgium for £11 million.
His deal with the Etihad Stadium lasts until 2026. It is thought that Milan would like to sign him.
