‘I tried everything I could to persuade him to join PSG, but it appears His mind is made up already’: Marco Verratti confirmed His £60 million International Teammate has turned down the PSG offer to join Manchester City in January

A recent report suggests that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is showing a keen interest in acquiring Inter Milan’s talented left-back, Federico DiMarco, during the upcoming summer transfer window.

This information originates from Inter Live.it, underscoring DiMarco’s reputation as one of the premier left-backs in Serie A. Guardiola appears to hold a strong belief that DiMarco would be a valuable addition to Manchester City’s squad, deeming him a potentially outstanding signing.

Pep Guardiola’s personal interest in securing Federico DiMarco’s services has been evident for some time. DiMarco’s stellar performances last season earned him recognition as one of the top left-backs in Europe, according to journalist Zach Lowy. Notably, even during the Champions League final against Manchester City, DiMarco showcased his prowess as a flying full-back, offering credit to City’s goalkeeper Ederson for his brilliant performance.

Guardiola’s admiration for DiMarco has grown over the months, and the Italian’s performance in a match against Manchester City in Istanbul last June further impressed the Catalan tactician. Interestingly, it’s rumored that Manchester City is willing to fulfill Guardiola’s desire next summer, with a reported offer of £52.4 million, which could be sufficient to persuade Inter Milan to part ways with the 25-year-old talent.

However, some questions arise regarding whether Federico DiMarco’s playing style aligns with Pep Guardiola’s established approach at Manchester City. DiMarco primarily operates as a left wing-back rather than a traditional full-back, and City is known for their defensive solidity. This choice might resemble fielding a left-back with defensive vulnerabilities, such as Joao Cancelo.

In contrast, players like Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake, or Manuel Akanji offer more dependable options at left-back. Hence, it raises a valid question as to why Guardiola has singled out DiMarco as a potential addition to the team.
