At the hour mark, though, Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton scored within a minute of each other, putting the game out of the Blues’ reach. The away team’s job got harder when their captain James got a second yellow card for a foul on Gordon 17 minutes from time and was sent off.
The Magpies sealed the win with Gordon’s goal in the 83rd minute. Mauricio Pochettino’s team lost their fifth of 13 league games this season. Fans were furious with James for getting his second yellow card, which got him sent off. One tweeted, “Worst captain at Chelsea.”
