This morning, Jamie Carragher made the announcement that Sir Alex Ferguson was successful in persuading David De Gea to sign a two-year contract with Manchester United.

According to Onda Cero, De Gea met with the departing president of the team to talk about the club’s current state and future goals. Although the 33-year-old still has a lot of playing years left in him, he is willing to consider his choices after hanging up his mitts.

Even though a new contract had been offered, De Gea left United at the end of the previous campaign. After more than ten years at Old Trafford, the Spaniard’s playing limitations prompted Erik ten Hag to look for other possibilities, which ultimately led him to recruit Andre Onana.

De Gea was expected to make a spectacular return to Manchester United, particularly since Onana would be missing for several weeks due to the Africa Cup of Nations. The goalie did little to stop suspicions from spreading despite his cryptic social media post amid mounting curiosity.
