“I gave by best to England and this is how the choose to repay me by kicking me off”-Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has finally broken silence after being kicked out of Garath Southgate England Squad
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire says he is “very upset” that his country will not be participating in Euro 2024.
The center defender has been a pillar of his country’s defense and has shown great play in previous major competitions.
He had promised he wouldn’t participate in the Emirates FA Cup final victory over Manchester City and had hoped to recover from the calf problem that had sidelined him since the draw with Burnley in April.
Nevertheless, Maguire hasn’t been able to prove his health in time, despite joining Gareth Southgate’s temporary squad prior to the German championship.
“I am unhappy not to have been chosen to play for England at the Euros this summer,” he said on social media.
I’ve been attempting to recover from a calf injury, but I’m not improving. Maybe I put too much effort into trying to achieve. I’m utterly heartbroken.
Being able to represent England is the biggest honor for me. It is everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, like the rest of the country, I’ll cheer them on as a fan. Guys, let’s win.
“I will then return and work with the Manchester United medical staff to ensure I’m fit for the forthcoming season.”
Naturally, everyone at United is hoping for Harry’s speedy recovery during our off-season.
The announcement of the England finals team brought better news for Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo.
Both Reds will represent the Three Lions in Germany after making the cut.
